Answer question
OPC Client Connection / PLC Connect licenses
Hi,
I'm trying to find the best solution for the OPC connection between the 800xA v5.1 and an external ABB PLC (COM600S). So right now as I can see it, any of them can be either an OPC server or an OPC client.
Regarding the 800xA licenses I have two solutions:
- OPC Client Connection (800xA is OPC server)
- PLC connect / OPC generic object (800xA is OPC client).
So my questions are:
1. If I have redundant 800xA servers, do I need one or two OPC Client Connection/PLC connect licenses?
2. Does anyone have an experience with OPC generic object solution implementation? As I see It, the PLC connect solution is more simple to implement than the OPC generic object solution. With PLC connect solution I get ready-made ABB libraries which I can use (this is not the case with OPC generic object)..? Also, would it be wise to implement the OPC generic object solution with cca. 150 signals?
