Solution
The solution of this problem is to add an optical attenuator of 5-6 dB at the opto transmitter, placed between the fiber cable and the modem connector. Part number for the 5 dB attenuator kit is 3BSE019433R1.
The problem will be corrected in the coming TC514V2 modem.
Workaround
Two possible workarounds are available:
• Add washers (2-3 pcs) into the transmitter connector. The washer dimension should be:
Inner diameter > 2.5 mm
Outer diameter < 5.5 mm
Thickness 0.5 mm.
or
• Add about 500 meter optical fiber to existing optical fiber

When AF100 optical modem TC514/TC514V1/TC630 are used, the communication may, for some cable lengths partly or fully, not be established. The problem has been seen for optical fiber segments, where the length is up to 600 meters.
The modems are always connected two by two in different combinations, TC514-TC514, TC514-TC514V1, TC514V1-TC630 etc. Due to better transmitters the latest year, the modem’s optical receiver can be overdrive at short cable length. The TC630 modem itself doesn’t have this problem since there is an adjustment possibility on the transmitter. The TC514/TC514V1 doesn’t have this adjustment. The TC630-TC630 combination is not affected of this problem.
When communication exist, the diagnostics for the CI database element (CI520, CI522, CI626 etc.) can show System error (SE) Multiple devices. With the on line builder the following system message is displayed:
