"PROFIBUS communication halts occasionally. Communication Interface CI541V1 equipped with wrong chip." resolves the following:
- PROFIBUS communication halts occasionally. Communication Interface CI541V1 equipped with wrong chip.
The PROFIBUS communication module CI541V1 occasionally halts the execution and thus stops the communication. Depending on configuration of the Controller the problem might occur within a few hours or after several weeks.
Other functions in AC450 or AC410 are not affected.
The problem is related to CI541V1 modules with product revision D, E and G.
Product concerned
Advant Controller 410 version 1.4/0 or later
Advant Controller 450 version 2.1/0 or later
Hardware concerned:
PROFIBUS Communication Interface CI541V1 PR:D and PR:E (all serial numbers), and PR:G with the following serial numbers:
SE01270090 to SE01270107, SE01295128 to SE01295142, SE01300940 to SE01300954, SE01337100 to SE01337113, SE01337134 to SE01337148, SE01350273 to SE01350287, SE01384950 to SE01384969.
The underlying cause is:
- Wrong type of chip from ALTERA
There is a risk that a CI541V1 with PR:D and PR:E, or a CI541V1 with PR:G and a serial number as listed above is equipped with a wrong IC. Please look for a chip marked ALTERA and MAX. On the chip is also a code starting with either BC or BD.
If the code starts with BC , then the chip is the correct one, otherwise, if the code starts with BD , then the chip is the wrong one, and the module needs to be replaced.
