Answer question
It is possible to load programs with an invalid mounting position code DB (EPC_DB)
A description of this resolution:
- Described borderline cases can be avoided with the following procedure:
1. If the mounting position code DB (EPC_DB) is intact:
Once the redundancy partner has been exchanged, continue to use the mounting position code DB that has been used so far.
In this case, an error is impossible and there no further action is required.
2. If the mounting position code DB is damaged:
Read back a valid mounting position code DB from the backup using the restore function.
Warning: The mounting position code DB may only be read back from the backup medium during the exchange of a module if the backup manager does not issue a warning. Otherwise a valid backup medium must be used.
Regenerating the mounting position code DB from the system (SYS_PAK 2.61 and higher).
Creating a new, empty mounting position code DB by running the basic initialization on both units using the software EPI.
Warning: Ensure that the EPI function is selected and that the menu function for creating a new mounting position code DB is not used. The latter can lead to the error described above.
'It is possible to load programs with an invalid mounting position code DB (EPC_DB)' resolves the following:
- Service Station
When a redundancy partner has been exchanged, it may be possible to load with an invalid out-of-date mounting position code DB.
The error occurs under the following conditions:
The existing mounting position code DB is overwritten by an invalid mounting position code DB from the backup medium during a restore operation even though the backup manager issued the relevant warning.
Or:
The mounting position code DB is recreated using the menu system without using the EPI functionality.
The underlying cause is:
- Recognition of invalidity of a mounting position code DB not always guaranteed
Before a module is loaded, it cannot be guaranteed that the service station will always recognize the invalidity of a mounting position code DB in some borderline cases. The relevant codes are not always taken into consideration by the redundancy balancing on the CMX modules and as a result they cannot always be correctly evaluated on the service station.
