Clearing stale Symphony Harmony Communications Status alarms
I am involved in an upgrade that is replacing several PPB systems with 800xA for Harmony. Both sets of systems are currently running in parallel. A small challenge we are going to have in the not too distant future is that when the PPB ICIs are finally decommissioned, all remaining nodes with exception report routes established to these ICIs will then permanently report the PPB nodes as offline (Status Byte 3, Bit 7, Comms Status / Nodes Offline).
The only way I know of resolving this is to perform a hard/cold reset on every affected NPM/ICI/IIT, starting from the most distant nodes and then working back towards the ring where the decommissioned ICI used to be. This is not practical in this case as there are no planned outages for some of the plant which is going to leave system alarms active, potentially for years. Reusing the ICI node address for another node also works but that is not really practical for all 10 ICIs being decommissioned.
On a test system with NIS11/NPM12 I have tried disestablishing the tags from the PPB ICI prior to shutting down the ICI by setting all tags to OoS and whilst this does dis-establish all routes between the PCU and the ICI, it does not clear the PCU's NIS node status table entry that marks the ICI as a destination for exception reports.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Alan
