Server - client communication in CHMI
I have configured one server and three clients in CHMI using 3 PC's. I see the OPC status running in all the clients and server. If i shut down the server why does the clients loose communication with the PLC. The CHMI icon on the system tray gets disabled. If OPC is running in all the three clients they should be individually communicating with the PLC. At the moment i switch of server they should not loose communication. Why are they loosing communication. are the clients dependent on server for communication.
Please clarify.

" If i shut down the server why does the clients loose communication with the PLC."
You get one dumb question per day my friend :)
There is more than one OPC connection ....
The "Server" PC is the only PC that is connected to the PLC. This connection uses the AC800M OPC DA connection. All of the other "clients" get their informaton form the "server"
The OPC status that you see running in the clients is the OPC communicattion between the CHMI nodes. This is the Afw OPC connection.
