Create profibus redundant network using CI854A
Answers
The S800 IO and Profibus manuals from ABB contain a lot of excellent information about installing profibus. There is an excellent resource available here also ... http://www.profibus.com/download/inst...
Check the ABB on line help in control builder for AC800M and CI854 specific settings.
Basically a redundant Profibus is simpy 2 single busses running to the same IO stations. Profibus is a very good bus, but like any bus system, following the installation guide is IMPORTANT. Small mistakes and missing details in the profibus installation can cause the entire bus to be unreliable.
Software Side:
From Control Builder -> Controllers -> Hardware -> CI854.
Select CI854, CI854Open Settings -> Line Redundancy -> Enabled
Then Select Right Click-> Redundancy -> Add Redundant Unit.
In software you cannot open the redundant modules setting. Settings will be same for both. But there positions can be viewed like 1(4)CI854..
If you are configuring a new module, refer attachment.
Hardware side:
Master CI854 Profibus A(This is where your Cable will Start. Cable should be connected only on "in" side of Profi connector, termination should be made on.)
This Cable should enter your Redundant CI854 "in" side of Profi connector A.. From this connector, Out Cable should go to your slaves. Termination should be off.
Similarly for Profibus B route..
Termination should be ON in first node & last node. In intermediate nodes it should be off.
Hope this helps.....
