800xA version 4.1 Rollup 11b upgrade to SV6.0 / Advabuild for Master
Good afternoon , please could you support to us in the follwwing issue?
We have installed a system 800xA for Master Connect version 4.1 Rollup 11b , 1 AC450 , 2AC410 . We need to upgrade the 800xA HMI to version 6.0.2 .
Also we need to upgrade the Advabuild for master currently installed nowadays into machine with Windows NT , this is the current version installed: Aplication Builder 2.6/0 1999 , Fucntion ChartBuilder 4.6/0 1999, Online Builder 2.6/0 1999, Windows NT 4.00.1381 . We need to upgrade to last version and taking advantage of external RTA installed in one of the connect node .
Our concern are :
1 -we know we can install into connect node and when we would need to configure and to use the Online Builder we could do that from connect this connect node with RTAB.
2 - The version of the controller we are not sure if we need to do any upgrade in the controller from firmware of the controller , attach you can see the flash card from each controller , also do you know where can I get any compatibility table to see if the PM installed nowadays would be compatible with next version ?
Thanks for your support
1. Perfectly OK to have ONB share PU410 (=RTA) with System 800xA. Current version is 1.4/x and run Win 10/Server 2012 (and soon, maybe already 2016)
2. A bit old* controller firmware, but those controllers can be uploaded to 800xA and subscribed to. IIRC, the official support for System 800xA began a bit later than the listed versions. For obvious reasons, ABB was not able to certify all older controller versions.
Please read relevant product bulletins, status reports, etc at ABB Library. Ask regional ABB to assist with access to these documents, unless you manage this on your own. Do not restrict yourself to 800xA for Advant Master documentation! These controllers had many new versions and bugfixes released with Advant Station 500.
The PM510 processor was replaced with the more modern PM511 processor. SC520 carrier boards have been revised with newer firmware and bugfixes, etc, etc.
There are many known errors that are corrected in later versions. Its hard to list all here.
One that comes to mind is System 800xA's inability to subscribe for properties with Property Index larger than 127 in these old controller versions. Firmware upgrade is required to go above 127. I believe there was another subscription bug corrected in firmware as well. Read these documents carefully - and avoid ending up with having to upgrade in the 11th hour of the project because some property does not appear in the HMI.
Also, just because 800xA support OPC, it does not guarantee that you can hook up any OPC client application and read/write data in the controller at any volume or interval. Read the performance chapter carefully! OPC overload from a "lesser educated OPC client" is a very very common problem.
