TRDBS With Modify Arrgument
I dumped the whole database from my controller, then I backtranslated it to Application builder, then I generated Tables using "Export DB Sections", then I opened DIS820 in excel and modify DESC and PROCESS_SECTION only and then import it again to my database
after that I use "Generate Source" and I checked "Prefix DB Elements by MODIFY" and Generate the database,
Now I would use TRDBS to Translate my modified database to the controller, would that inruppet the program or stop the controller, or I can do that withour fair of sopping the factory ??
The TRDBS /MODIFY syntax modifies existing Database elements. It is the only way in which the TRDBS command can run with the controller in P1 mode. The TRDBS command cannot put your controller into P2 mode - it will give an error message if it cannot create a database element.
Be sure that your DB source code contains ONLY the database elements that you want to modify. The code will also execute much faster if you only specify the DESC and PROCESS_SECTION attributes. Remove any other attributes.
I realize you have been given some conflicting information on this. (including one of my previous answers). If you are still concerned and do not want to use the TRDBS command then you can also use a "Command File" to execute a series of MDB commands and modify your database that way.
The command file executes exactly as if you typed the commands yourself at the on-line builder prompt. So modify 1 or 2 elements manually to check and test the exact syntax of your commands. Your command file will look something like ...
The ! characters terminate data entry and are important. You should also probably add a BREAK on error handler.
The CFX is just a text file that can be created with any text editor or an excel spreadsheet or macro. Once the CFX is created, compress it to a CF file ( just like DB and PC files) and execute it with on line builder.
