Very hard to tell without more information.
I have no access to our support lab at the moment, but I believe the installer log(s) reside in/close to:
/var/adm/swagent.log
/var/adm/swagentd.log
/var/log/swagent.log
/var/log/swagentd.log
etc
There may be a file named "swinstall.log" as well.
These log files must be searched for errors occurring during install (set BIOS/clock to be able to search for a known time of failure). Its hard to tell how this error would look like - best would be to compare with an identical machine where installation of same software succeed.
A first guess would be problem with installing the RTA driver due to missing or broken RTA. On a PCI machine, the RTA should be listed in BIOS as a "PCI Bridge Device". On a EISA machine, the eisa_config command might tell if RTA driver is known by BIOS or not.
"dmesg" output should list 2-3 "ABB" drivers if the kernel was installed properly (however, the drivers will load even if no RTA is found...)
There are a few bulletins out on known problems, e.g. an onboard (RTA) chip may contain wrong data causing the installer to not recognise the RTA. This problem can be corrected by writing a correct value using a special command (QSpan).
However, at this stage we can not be sure about so much. Try to dig out some more information from the computer and log files.
