OPC Communication with different Freelance versions(7.1 & 9.2)
Hi,
I need support to configure OPC Communication from Freelance 7.1 to Freelance 9.2. The details of screenshots which i tried is explained in attachment. In 7.1 configured as OPC Gateway and opc tunnel configured. In 9.2 i configured as server, in that config ip address of 7.1 given. In control builder running is showing but in Freelance 9.2 CBF, opc item list not able to see the opc tags.
How to see opc items in 7.1?.
Let me know if i want to do any other configuration for taking OPC item list tags / variable.

Hi,
First of all if you are not using AC 700F controller with version 9.2, why can't you use Ethernet send and recieve ? it's faster and easy to configure.
Regarding OPC communication, from the attachment what I understood you want to read values from V7.1 system into V9.2 system, check image below(the text in red color I am not sure from your document or it's missing)
I have question to you,
1. Have you installed and started OPC server F for resource 54 in system V7.1 ? I don't see that step in your attachment. (check below how to do that)
2. In V9.2 PC have you installed ABB OPC Tunnel ? if yes then in your step 1.h you can start configurator from all programs, rather then from some setup file.
This second question is not so important but when things does not work out every thing matters ;) so just checking that point.
Regarding starting of OPC server F, If you have installed on PC you should get "Freelance OPC-Server options" in configure window check image below
If you get that options then add 54 resource ID
After this if every thing is fine you can start OPC manually from this path C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Freelance\exe\OPCSRV.exe\54 and you can verify that by
this icon appear at taskbar check image below it should be 54 Freelance
Now regarding V9.2 red text for 172.16.4.10, which IP it is ? This IP should be of V7.1 PC where OPC server F s running.
So after doing all this restart server, check image below this icon you should get V9.2 PC if OPC tunnel is installed there.
So in summary after doing this you should get 54 Freelance Icon appear in task bar of V7.1 PC, then go to OPC item list in V9.2 PC CBF you should get hope fully OPC items sysnchronised and populated.
If not work out still, check DCOM settings on V7.1 PC, make sure both the system version PC should have same windows login, both are on same network. And check document 3BDD012511R0401_Eng_Manual_OPC_Server_F, on page 48 section Example of the OPC linking of two systems with AC 800F and Freelance process stations and page 22.
I recommend you to take help of local ABB support people as this is typical case where there is communication between OPC tunnel and DCOM. If you are not able to bring communication up. but you can continue conversation here if you have enough time to execute this project and not bounded with timeline :)
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have tried your configuration with 9.2SP1 (your case 7.1) and Freelance 2013 (your case 9.2)
PC1-> Freelance 9.2SP1, Freelance OPC Gateway and Tunnel is running (for eg:Gateway resource ID is 10)
PC2-> Freelance 2013 is running, In CBF configured OPC server node & gateway node is configured in P-Tree and assigned Freelance 9.2SP1 PC (where opc gateway/server is running) IP address in OPC server node in P-Tree.
Gateway resource ID "10" is configured in IP Network configuration in Freelance 2013 CBF.
In this case OPC server node is showing "Running" and Gateway node is showing "Wrong Station type,Running" in Freelance 2013
So we cannot download to Gateway station from Freelance 2013 version since Gateway is running in 9.2SP1 version. We will not able to get OPC tag from 9.2 SP1 to Freelance 2013 because both Freelance gateway & CBF versions are different.
i hope it helps you....
What is the OPC tunnel configuration on Freelance 7.1 station? Was the System Tray reset after tunnel configuration? Is the OPC serwer on Freelacne 7.1 running? Did You set proper access rights for Gateway?
As You see there are many things that need to be configured and it's easy to miss one or two. If You could attach the configuration on this site I could take a look (I tried to download from Your link, but don't have access rights).
@ sounder - You do not need to configure Gateway in F2013 system (P-Tree)! You only configure Gateway station (which is OPC server) in 9.2 and OPC-Server (which is client connection) in 2013. The only other thing is starting the server wich Configure and OPC tunnel configuration.
The OPC standard is fully open and not only You CAN connect Freelance 7.1 with Freelance 9.2 or 2013, but You can also connect PLCs (like AC 500) and third party with Freelance, as long as You configure OPC serwer and Tunnel correctly.
