History Duration want to increase from 4 Month to 2 year in History server ABB 800Xa5.1
We are looking to increase History logs capacity in history server, presently 143 Days default history extent duration length configured in the server.
To extend history up to 2 year data disk space is available in system.( RTDB Folder 80GB Space Available out of 150GB).
It is to inform you that presently we are using Vtrin Software for History server & it is connected with 800xa 5.1 redundant aspect & connectivity server.
Therefore requested to you kindly give your suggestion for online changing history extent duration length in history server.
Before increasing the history storage, you have to use disk size estimation sheet available in the ABB Library to calculate actual History log data storage & retention by providing update rate, number of logs, maximum storage in days etc.,. Based on the result produced by the sheet, you have to reserve the RTDB disk size.
Basically History table length automatic adjust is done when History notices that History is running out of disk space respective of what it has been allocated.
Ensure first that your database disk is having still free disk space as per disk estimation. If it is then take a look how it have been parametrized in a setup phase. In a setup phase there is a question how much resources you want to allocate to History. Three alternatives are provided: ‘low’, ‘medium’, ‘high’ (large).
Low would mean that only 30% from resource are used -> leaving e.g. lot of disk space and memory to potential other applications. High would mean that History is probably the only application in a computer and all resources are allocated to it. In practice in production systems ‘high’ is the most common answer.
If you dont know which provision has been selcted during installation. You can check which selection was done by opening file setup_answers.bat:
There is a line: SET "ANS_P_DBSIZE=low". Or similar. You can change that to
Run this and open the following .bat file to adjust the disk size
would be the file to adjust disk size. But problem here is that if the system already has been in production, it calculates the new disk space from the disk space available currently. To avoid this mistake you can as well manually change Disk size setting from SimpleConfig (from Vtrin main tree Maintenance\Basics\Service Parameters). The parameter’s key is ‘SizeInGB’ and Section ’Database’.
As a last hint History table length adjust procedure is owned by RTDB-Transformator service. More information about the status is available from services ComponentStatus entry: RTDB-Transformator \HistoryLegthAdjust.
Note : If your history is in production environment and you are not familiarize with history components, please contact your support line for more support.
Hope this helps
