AFW service tray icon status has AspectDirectory in RED
We have two aspects and connectivioty servers on redundancy (800XA 5.0.0), recently on one of the aspects and connectivity server the AFW service tray icon status had AspectDirectory in RED, the rest of the other services were green i.e OK
What could have caused this problem?
Whats the solution to this problem?
Could it reoccur on the other services?
What is the worst case scenarion if we loose the other server?
Go to Service Structure-> AspectDirectory, Service -> ""Service Group->""Service Provider->
Go to Aspect "Service Provider Definition"
If the Current shows "Error", You will have options Reset/ColdReset in Command dropdown.
Select Reset/ColdReset and click "Run".
Check whether the service has come up. Please look attachment. Hope it helps!
The status code displayed on the service provider is of interest.
1oo2 AS configuration is subject to a sync problem not existing in 2oo3 AS configuration.
If network connection is down and AS1 and AS2 is updated independently they will not sync when network connection is restored, instead one will enter error state with dedicated error code (use AfwErrorLookup.exe to translate code into text - the error I'm trying to describe here is similar to E_AFW_AD_INCOMPATIBLE).
SG's suggestion is correct to resolve this error. Please note that you may first want to disconnect and restart the server in error (to force it into operation) to tell which of the two to cold reset. You may risk deleting precious data by cold starting the wrong.
As of version 5.1 the cold start is automated, always keeping the first in group listed AS. This might not always be what you want, eg if important engineering has taken place on the second AS while they were separated.
