How to add new profibus device /import new .gsd/ file to Composer 1.51?
I need to add new profibus device to Composer 1.15. Enginiering tool is already quite vintage but I hope we have here someone who can help.
Topology of my profibus is redundant CMC60 procesor, DP0 is already ocupied so I want to use DP1 and connect slave to this bus.
As far as I understood first of all I need to add this device to project library, and the best is to have DTM for it, but unfortunatelly there is no DTM for this device.
What I also found out is writen here:
"For PROFIBUS devices which do not have their own DTM, Composer offers a so-called "default DTM". With this DTM a PROFIBUS slave can be configured on the basis of the imported GSD file and with the aid of the manual. Simple tools are provided for the purpose, for modular slaves permitting selection and placement of the modules, enabling entry of the user parameters, and serving to compile the frame description.
The default DTM is also the import interface for slave descriptions from Composer CSV1.41. In this version the slaves are specified by the frame description (*.csv file) and a so-called DP string (*.xpt file). The *.csv file can be imported directly into the "default DTM". If the "default DTM" has the associated GSD file, it generates from those data a slave instance with the appropriate DTM parameter data set. The slave created in this way can then be treated in Composer like any other slave with its own DTM (reproduction by copying)."
It really meens nothing to me. Is there any tool I can convert .gsd to .csv? How to find it? Where and how can I import those files? Where to start? How to configure the devices later on?
Sorry, dont now in details "older" Composer versions, but according provided description:
- for Composer CSV1.41 and older you will need *.csv/*.xpt file to map/integrate Profibus devices
- I assume that for higher versions of Composer (your case - v1.51) there is possible to map/integarate Profibus devices via *.gsd file via default DTM import interface
We use Composer 5/6 and there is possible to import GSD file via Composer Probibus library structure - import function. Do you have account for Solutions Bank? Maybe there are available any documents which can help you.....
