ACS880 drive fault DL105 speed match
Hello,
We are commissioning an ACS880 drive for crane hoisting and having fault D105 speed match.
There is a speed encoder. We compared paramter 1.02 motor speed estimated and 1.04 Encoder 1 speed and found they are close although not exact. We set parameter 90.41 to encoder 1.
The hoist did the lifting and there are two faults:
1. D105 speed match
2. 7310 overspeed fault
We noticed 1.02 is -4.12 rpm and 1.04 is -3.9 rpm. They jumped to 63.30rpm and 65.29 rpm in split second before faulted the drive.
The drive is a acs880-01-145a-3.
It is rated at 135A. The motor ampere is 90A. We noticed when the drive drive, the drive current is in between 133A - 135A.
please provide some guidance on how to resolve the issue.

to better understand the application, could you give me some information about the motor - type, current, rpm, brake ecc. and how you have do the electrical command for the brake.
What kind of encoder is mounted?
What encoder feedback interface did you use? FEN-31?
Could you post the parameter file of ACS880?
May be you have to adjust the gain of the drive (parameter group 25), but this is a fine adjustment you have to do very carefully

The hoist encoder details below:

We believe we use FEN-31.
The ABB engineer set up the drive but the commissioning is unfinished.
Motor nameplate data is similar as parameter 99.
We are using 7.5 Ohm braking resistor rated at 9kW. The resistor is getting pretty hot during testing.
Assuming DC bus voltage of 620V, the rating for the resistor for 100% duty cycle is 51kW. The 9kW resistor is good for 18% duty cycle. Do you think this is adequate for hoisting operation? Or this will cause problem with acceleration time during regenerative braking?
The ABB commissioning engineer performed the commissioning with the drive. We will check with him whether he has run the run ID?

Hi William
I'm sure the ABB technician is doing the best solution for your application. Probably it's about optimizing some parameters, I think of group 74-75 and following.
I did not see any special things in the parameter list, I saw you are using a FEN31 interface and the last ID run performed is "normal".
AFAIK the braking resistor does not affect the behavior you have detected, which is normal. Only knowing the work cycles can be estimated if it is dimensioned correctly.
I have no other suggestions to give you, but let us know the outcome of the ABB engineer and what solution has it adopted to solve
