800M data integration from remote locations
There is a section in plant where some signals from field instruments are coming to PM851 controller and the user wants that 5 remote location data also should be integrated into the main section.
Problem1: All 5 remote locations are more than 20 Kms away from central location and also each other.
Problem2: Each remote location has a maximum of only 4 data variables, so no elaborate system can be deployed.
Problem3: Since distance is too much, physical communication is not possible and internet facilities have to be used.
Problem4: User wants all data from central location and remote location to be integrated into one SCADA and the same SCADA should be available in a remote office (another city) ------ we plan to use HMI Operator Workplace Remote Client
I am looking for a solution to integrate the remote location with central location. Solution is required in the form of setup architecture and BOM associated with it.

Providing the basic network connection hardware between your remote site and the central control room is really outside the scope of the 800xA or Compact HMI system. But 800xA does have some software support for this.
If the customer cannot supply a permanent network connection then 800xA ( and AFAIK Compact HMI) PLC Connect includes a feature called "Dial Manager" which will allow you to connect to remote PLC's using a modem connection. This can either be a manually placed call, a scheduled call or a permanant call via a GSM modem or other suitable connection.
ABB does have a list of recommended GSM modems.
Dial manager is a licensed feature and will require some engineering, but is likely the easiest solution for collecting small amount of data from a remote site. You can also collect history at the remote site and then retrieve that history with a scheduled phone call.
See Section 5 of the PLC Connect Configuration guide for technical details.
If you do have a permanent network connection, then just use PLC connect to get the data.
Remember that Compact HMI only has 5 workplaces, and (again AFAIK) does not have a "Operator Remote Workplace" option. You should be able to use a Microsoft Remote Desktop connection to connect to a client in the central control room, but this will take up one of your workplaces.
