I have a machine in which i am using AC500 for counting parts. The whole application is to calculate loss. I have infeed and outfeed sensors on the machine. The total count in infeed sensor - outfeed sensor gives you the total number of parts in the machine. I do not have sensor to count the loss. My question is how do i program in AC500 plc to calculate the loss whithout having physical sensor.
I tried to do with the timing factor but my numbers were not accurate.
Any suggestions please.
one method to calculate the number of loss parts, is to use the Q out of counter and operate one algebric operation between the Word contains the the number.
The system probably return you one number near the "real" number of loss parts, the best solution probably is to measure with one other sensor the reject/loss parts
Since this isn't specific to the ABB PLC, you may get better results here: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/
From what I understand of your issue, I don't think you can determine that. If this were a batch process, then yes, you could determine that. If it is continuous, then you wouldn't know what is in the machine vs what was lost unless there is only a fixed number of parts that could be in the machine at a time.
