800xA - how to delete event from eventlist
I have 2 events in the event list that have bad date (some random number). Displaying the event list crashes the workplace. Oddly, this happens only on client workplaces - the same event list shows fine on the servers - even using the same "800xA workplace".
The only difference I can think of is that 800xA workplace is in full screeen on clients, but I used it in window mode on the server.
Is there a way to delete the offending events from the event list?

As said by others, deletion of individual events is not possible (e.g. it may undermine the trust in audit trail, etc.).
The problem is said to have self healed, but if it should reappear; you can try to cold start the System Message service (=all events will be removed) by removing or renaming its data storage folder (\OperateITData\SystemMessage) while having the System Message Service stopped.
Do also verify that all alarm and event sources are well time synchronized. A controller without proper battery backup may startup with a bad time and emit alarms or events before its internal clock has been synchronized from the clock master.
Third party OPC AE clients can also be attempted if you would like to track down the origin, but begin by finding out the bad event's category name which will tell you what OPC AE server they emerged from.
Ask your regional ABB Support center for assistance if you need help with finding tools, etc.
Events cannot be deleted from event list and only from alarm list.
Alarms are pushed from alarm manager and getting stored as event in event storage,we don't have access to delete it.
The reason for the crash might be not these old events and something else.
Better collect the dump for the workplace crash and contact regional supportline center for further assitance.
