PN/PN coupler can be used to connect 2 different profinet networks. The configuration is quite straight forward. Once you have the PN/PN coupler, note down the Firmware version. In the GSD file there are 3 firmware configurations available, V1.0, V2.0 and V3.0. While you start a GSD import in Control Builder M, make sure to select the 2 objects for your correct firmware (for the screen shot below I chose V2.0). There will be 2 object for each port named X1 and X2. Select the submodules as required, or select all if you are not sure yet which one to use. The byte mapping is done automatically and you can browse to each submodule-channel to check the same.
Once the GSD import is complete, connect the library to the controller you are working on, Insert the PN_PN couple X1 object and make the submodule configuration as required by application. X2 object should be inserted under the other controller which controls the second profinet network, or other CI871 under same controller or even in same CI871 as a new device if you are just testing the setup. The submodule configuration should be exact opposite under X1 and X2. For every input, there should be a corresponding output.
As for the "Station Name" and "IP settings" for X1 and X2, they should be specific to the network they belong to.
