AC 800 M Modulebus FO comunication
What is the best way to connect FO
duplex or simplex
and what is the differance between them
what is the advantages and disadvantages of each one
It depends on the ditances between the nodes. Inside a cabinet you can use either a ring layout (simplex) or a line using duplex. Then plastic fiber is fine to use.
But going out side the cabinet I recommend to use glass fiber. Then you can use either TB825 or TB826 modules. With TB825 the max distance is 1000m between two nodes. TB825 is using ST connectors.
If you are using TB826 the maximum distance is 5000m, it uses SC connectors. The price of the TB826 module is twice the TB825, but you can also go longer distance :)
I do recommend to read manual:

From your comments to HenrikPalmgren and only to explain our solution to the same problem.
Modulebus is a series circuit, so is not posible to avoid loosing the next cluster (or clusters) to one that has failed.
Our customer didn't approved this, not based on any standar or specification but their personal requirements.
The solution was PROFIBUS with CI854 and CI840 (always look for the terminal units with double power connection, e.g. TU849). When field fiber is required for remote locations, we used OZD from Hirschmann.
PROFIBUS is a parallel connection, when a CI840 is lost, the connection thru his conector and cable remains functional (unless someone cut the cable)
