Remote client in CHMI
Dear Friends,
how to configure remote client in CHMI?...is there any manual for that?...
what is the difference between Remote client,Smart client,Thin client these three clients?....
Answers
CHMI and 800xA are very similar and you could "cross breed" i.e. read manuals off the other variant.
Rich client: a traditional PC with Windows and System 800xA SW loaded and physical connection 100 MBit/s or better to the client server network.
Thin client: anything capable of hosting a Windows Remote Desktop session (iPad, thin-PC-of-the-kind-you-read-email-off-at-airports-with, regular PC, etc). Network connection can be less than 100 Mbit/s. Only RDP protocol need to be supported. A Windows Terminal Server is required to host the RDP session(s) - up to five sessions can be hosted by each TS. The TS must be "rich client" preferably a powerful server with lots of RAM and CPU.
Smart client: a web based add-on to System 800xA with with you can build displays and view alarms, events, trends and even PG2 graphics through. Smart Client runs on traditional PC but OS requirements are much more free than traditional rich client, e.g. I believe you may choose a non-english version of Windows.
Ergo: you need to install a Windows 2008 (or 2003 if CHMI 5.0 is used) Server with Terminal Server option (separate license from Microsoft is required) and install this server as a rich 800xA client. I believe the installation wizards shall be able to assist you with this.
