GLOBAL LICENSE ERRORS- MOD Connect 800xA system
We are periodically seeing a pop-up that says: "
A Hardware Key (Machine ID) has failed. You have 48 hours remaining to correct the problem before licenses become invalid.
Please refer to the license error log by runnig: Start->Programs->ABB Industrial IT 800xA->System->Licensing->License Status VIewer
Or by browsing the error log file on the license server at the location "<CLS_NSTALLED_PATH>\Licenses".
"
We are currently in operation and are looking for a way to resolve this licensng issue without experiencing any disruptions to operations/manufacturing. Our system is an 800xA MOD Connect system and we have license dongles attached to a redundant ESXi host.
Previously, removing and re-inserting the license dongles has re-established the connection during plant downtime. If we were to remove and re-inser the dongles while in operation right now would it produce any errors or affect production in any way?

The system will continue to function, but you will see "nag" screens every few minutes on the workstations.
It looks like your dongle (or possibly the USB controller) finally failed. Order a replacement. In the meantime, your local ABB agent should be able to provide temporary - or better yet, permanant licensing based on your MAC address
Hello,
did you check your available maschine id in the licence entry application on your licence server (normaly primary AS)?
use the vspehere client to check if vmware can identify the dongle. If so is it still assigned to your maschine ?
IF the dongles are not seen you can try to reinsert them as you did before.
