Alarms in 800xA with GUID names
The system is V5.1 FP4 with Advant Conncetivity. Similar questions exist in this database (In 800xA FP4 event list problem)(Alarms in 800xA with GUID names and no description). I've Cold Start the Event Storage but the alarms are still in the system. In my case the Lost And Found is empty. I guess the alarms don't come from advant sytem events, they are objects we may have deleted during erection. If I search for the GUID I get "Object not found".
How could I get rid of these alarms?
A cold start of event storage service only clears the event lists, alarms resides in the alarm manager service.
The alarm list requires an object to be able to present an object name; without any matching object in the system it can not do anything else but present the missing object's GUID.
It looks like objects in alarm state were deleted from the system before the alarms have returned to idle state.
A user with administrative permission can delete them from the alarm list.
Remember that the suggested delete operation is only "skin deep", i.e. is performed ONLY in the alarm manager service.
If the orphan alarms are still existing in the controller, OPC AE server or the event collector buffer they may return upon next OPC AE refresh call - so you may have to clean the controller and/or OPC AE server as well.
If the alarms return after deletion, consider restarting the OPC AE server they emerged from (use right click->Event details... to find out the event category and thus also the OPC AE server). The event collector will restart as well if you restart the OPC AE server. As a last resort, you may have to restart the controller to get rid of these alarms.
