How to measure of paper line speed using DP820 installed on AC800M?
Greetings
I am trying to measure production line speed using incremental encoder connected to DP820/TU810 on Compact AC800M controller. the case is that I do mange to count the encoder pulses, also I do mange to do reset to the counter accumulated value, the frequency is fixed all the time at a value equal to 50% of full scale frequency range (i.e. if the full scale is 100 the value all time is 50.0), I do think that there is missing something in the setting ... kindly advice

Hi,
We need to know the CPR(cycles per revolution) of the encoder to calculate rpm of the motor. Use the below formula f(kHz) = (cycles/rev)*(rev/sec)/1000
Further if you require to calculate the distance(paper length) then use the eqn.
(PPR) / (2*pi*radius of shaft) = pulses per inch
Hope this information helps you..
