Foundation Fieldbus: Devices dissapear
Hello,
we have this strange problem with a costumer. In September last year there was a upgrade from Freelance 9.1 to 2013. And a firmware upgrade of the HSE linking devices. Since then there are problems.
Sometimes (Once a week, sometimes once a month) a few devices (one or more on one link) 'disappear' from Digivis. No values are read from this device. In Digivis the device is shown Red in the overview. On the faceplate the status is "Bad" and the Sub status is "No Com. (no good value)". When we check the device in Control Builder F, we see in the parameter list a normal value.
The problem is solved by a device reset.
We did an on site visit and did a measurement of the Foundation Fieldbus network with a analyzer, but all values were normal. We also did a visual check of the field barriers. But everything looks fine.
This ‘phenomena’ appears on different links with different devices, but some links more than others. The temperature transmitter TF02 has the most problems but others are affected also. I already checked the parameters of the linking device and remarkable the link with more sensitive parameters doesn’t have more problems.
My question: Does anyone has the same problem, or can somebody give a tip were to look?
Thanks in advance,
Kristof

Hi,
Have you confirmed about interoperability of FF devices you have on H1 link with new Freelance version 2013? DIC releases report about devices tested and integrated successfully, but that I cannot find for latest Freelance version 2013.
So make sure there is no version compatibility issue between device revision/dd revision and LD800 FW version and FI 840F version ! As FF is untouched in new version I guess.
After HSE device FW change and after upgrade to 2013 you made full download to all the HSE and H1 link ? in hw tree every device node shows green tick mark ? i.e configuration downloaded successfully. I hope that will be the case.
Any mismatch or glitch in device addressing ? verify device addresses again between configured and assigned.
any or many LAS devices causing any turbulence !
from above description it appears in cbf you can see parameter list normal value. any analysis that value\communication status is healthy upto FF signal in CBF ? but there is may be issue between FF signal travelling via IEC61131 up to digivis !
I recommend to contact local ABB support or contact to dic@in.abb.com to get proper support.
Hope that helps
