Control and Functional Structure - Log Configuration aspect
I have a question maybe one of you might be able to shed some light.
In my 800xA system, I am able to defined "Log Configuration" aspect for a tag (3_PIT1220) which only appears in the "Controls Structure".
However, I have another tag (5_PIT1720) which appears both in "Control Structure" and "Functional Structure", and for this tag I am unable to add "Log Configuration" aspect.
Am I not allowed to tag "Log Configuration" for tags that is in both "Functional Structure" and "Control Structure"?
I think I will answer my own question.
The "Functional Structure" was creating a "hook" which prevented me from adding more aspects like "Log Configuration". I spoke with a few people from ABB and colleagues alike, and they say that technically it is possible to add aspects even if a tag is used in "Functional Structure". However, it did not for my case. I had to remove/disassociate the tag from the Functional Structure, add the required aspects (like Log Configuration) in the Control Structure, and then reinstate the tag into the Functional Structure again.
One more additional thing I noted was that, once I go through this exercise of remove and adding the tag into the Functional Structure, I was able to add additional aspects without requiring removal of the tag from Functional Structure again. I thought that could possibly be a software glitch.
Well, I hope this will help someone like myself.
