Where to input the tagname for Class 1 Ethernet/IP Comms
I have successfully installed a CI-873 card and have configured a link to my CompactLogix L30ER PLC.
I am using Compact Control Builder 5.1.1200.6.
Another user of this forum posted their EDS file (see attached) and hardware library for the same version of the L30ER. So I added the hardware definition to my project, configfured the hardware under the CI-873 in the controller tree.
I was able to get the Class 3 tags to work, so my PM856 is happily sending data to the L30ER.
The Class 1 communication is a different story. If you look at the PNG file attached, the hardware definition includes a line for entry of the tagname in the L30ER (ReceiveDataFrom ProduceTag). I made the configuration that is required and got channel errors no matter what I tried. There were some examples on the forum which I found and tried a lot of other things, but to no avail. And yes, I se the T2O connection type to Multicast and properly configured my connections.
So...thinking that I would play with the data types and try different data types from what originally configured in the hardware definition, I used the Device Import Wizard, and changed the DINT Class 1 connection from 4 Bytes to DINT + Swap to just 4 Bytes to DINT. Everything updated fine. No errors.
When I tried to downloaded the new configuration, I got an error - "Param 211 value not set" or something similar.
When I entered data into the Settings tab for the L30ER under the CI-873, the fields for entering the Class 1 tags (ReceiveDataFrom ProduceTag and ReceiveDataFrom2 ProduceTag) were not there.
What am I doing wrong. It was pretty easy to set up the Class 3 comms, but have had no luck with Class 1 data communications. I fear there are bugs in the version of the device import wizard I am using(?).
