ACS880 SPEED CONTROLLER AUTOTUNE
Hi,
In ACS880 drives there has a option 'SPEED CONTROLLER AUTOTUNE' and also in manual it is noted that the motor load must be connected with motor. The motor and machinery will run against the torque and speed limits during the autotune routine. MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE TO ACTIVATE THE AUTOTUNE FUNCTION!
As we know that a KILN is attached with two motors, pinion and girth gear.
Now my question is, if i want to execute the 'SPEED CONTROLLER AUTOTUNE' option for a speed controlled drive, then should the motor be connected with the KILN? That is called the load of motor or anything else?
Also is it possible to tune two motors connected from the same drive?
This portion is not clear to me.

Hi BR
the autotune routine define the best response of the drive in speed control, generally the speed control is used with one motor - one drive, to have the best regulation. Of course you need the load at drive, to execute the routine.
As you wrote, MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE TO ACTIVATE THE AUTOTUNE FUNCTION!
The final results of autotune routine adjust the parameters:
25.02 - Speed proportional gain
25.03 - Speed integration time
25.37 - Mechanical time constant
Nevertheless, it is still possible to manually adjust the controller gain, integration time
and derivation time, you can use the monitor parts of Drive composer SW to visualize on PC the trend of speed, torque and current.
Hope this help you

If you are running 2 motors with one drive, then you are not in DTC speed mode. You must be operating in V/Hz mode. There is no tuning in V/Hz mode. You do not want to autotune unless you have a continuous, rotary load. Do not use it on a finite linear load.
