Limited count of 800xA RDP clients?
Is there a limit of how many 800xA clients can be connected trough RDP to 800xA Terminal servers apart from 800xA client or MS RDP Licensing?
One of our system engineers claims there is a total limit of 30, but I cannot imagine this.

Please download and study the System Guide. It contains the numbers you are asking for.
In theory: no limit wrt RDP
In practice: a workplace will need 1-3 GB of RAM, another 1-3 GB RAM if used for engineering (Control Builder M, Excel, Function Designer, etc) and plenty of gigahertz.
For best user experience equip the terminal server with as fast CPU cores as possible. The workplace does NOT benefit from multiple cores, one (1) CPU core per workplace is enough. Spend money on GHz not CPU cores.
Personally, I recommend a maximum of 5-10 workplaces per terminal server. If performance is important, stick to the lower number.
Keep in mind that RDP adds overhead due to the video compression between the RDP server and client. Many modern thin clients run on inferior low power CPU hardware which will take its toll on performance and user experience.
ABB recommend physical computers for critical process operation.
an RDP connection (1 user logon) costs about 50 MB of RAM. So with 16 GB of free RAM 250 connections should be possible (with a fast server CPU of course). But that's a theoretical limit.
The 800xA limits:
- Max. 80 workplace clients, total max. 160 screens.
- Max. 8 node functions (800xA 6.0).
