OPC / including non-800xA servers in the same domain as the one used by 800xA nodes
Hello. We have several Windows machines that are running various third-party OPC servers. These Windows machines are not members of the domain that is used for our 800xA system, but they are in the same network.
We want to access these OPC servers from our 800xA connectivity servers, preferrably without using OPC tunnellers.
Is there anything preventing us from simply adding those Windows machines to the 800xA domain (without installing any 800xA software), just so we can reach the OPC servers?
Hello, A good start can be to check the system configuration manuals, one to check is(3BDS011222-xxx) and there are other related manuals also about the subject.
In a technical view there is nothing that preventing you to add this server to your ABB System domain in fact it can be easier in the progress when you want to connect to the third-party opc servers.
But the key thing for you is to set the dcom security between the connectivity server and your external servers. Integration can be done with third-party opc server via opc generic in ABB 800xA(Check System planning manual, 3BSE041389-510).
You can also search for third party OPC in this community you find more info!
