Firmware downgrade AC800m controller
Hello,
We're trying to downgrade the firmware version within our controller.
Is this something that can be done ? We have tried doing this over the Compact Control Builder and over the compact flash card without success.
We're starting to think this cannot be done.
Does anyone knows a way to completely restore the original facotry settings including firmware ??
We appreciate your collaboration
BR

It is possible to Downgrade your firmware of AC800M controller.
This is possible using only serial cable connected to Tool Port on AC800M contoller side and other end connected to a CBM machine running on the version of the 800xA you would like to run.
Suppose you have upgraded the controller using 5.1 FP4 CBM and now you want to downgrade to 5.0 SP2 RevE, so you require CBM machine running on 5.0 SP2 RevE.
Firmware Upgrade via the Serial Cable (TK212A)
Connect the serial cable between the Control Builder PC and the controller
Turn on the power to the Controller.
From the Windows Start menu select All Programs > ABB Industrial IT 800xA > Engineering > Utilities > Serial Firmware Upgrade. The following dialog box will appear
Click Connect and then press the Init push-button on the Controller until the Run LED starts to blink.
Select Firmware version1 from the drop-down menu and click Upgrade
Click OK.
Click Exit.
Press the Init push-button on the Controller until the Run LED starts to blink.

Hi,
Firmware file occupies the non volatile memory of Controller. The available PPA version installed in your system generates the firmware file. Controller's firmware can be upgraded / downgraded depending on installed version of your PPA
1) Direct from Control Builder:
First of all check in Control Builder -> Tools ->Remote Properties -> Choose your controller IP and select Show Firmware Information.
If there is a mismatch between existing version and available version, then go for firmware download by checking the checkbox,Reset the controller by pressing INIT button(Hold the INIT button till R LED blinks) and select Download firmware to Selected units.
Another method is:
2) Using Serial Firmware Upgrade Tool:
Connect Serial Cable (TK212A) in your Server machine which will be having the Serial Port.Connect the other end to COM4 Port of Controller.
Goto All Programs > ABB Industrial IT 800xA > Engineering IT> Utilities > Serial Firmware Upgrade.
->Click Connect. (A message "Make your Controller Reset" will appear)
->Press INIT Button till R Led flashes (A message " System reset detected" will appear)
-> Now the available firmware in your server system will be displayed. Click Upgrade
