profibus configuration / testing
We are building a number of remote I/O panels for a customer of ours. They have requested that we use the CI840A redundant communication processors, AI815 analog input modules, DI810 input modules, and DO820 relay output cards.
We would like to test the assembly in our shop using a profibus simulator, our main goal is to confirm the AI815 modules are connected correctly and reading an analog signal before we send the equipment to the end user.
This is our first time using the ABB S800 I/O equipment and we are not that familar with how this paticular brand of I/O functions. In other applications we have been able to use the HMS / Anybus Profibus master simulator to communicate with other brands of remote I/O hardware. We are unable to establish communications with the CI840A. I found the GSD files for the ABB hardware (everything except the AI815), the HMS recognizes the GSF files allowing us to configure the interface, but we get no response from the CI840A.
Is there a configuration program that needs to be downloaded into the CI840A? I see some discussion in Section 4 of the Fieldbus Communication Interface for Prodibus DP/DPV1 (3BSE020926-510) manual about module configuration between the master and the FCI. I don't see where a paticular software or interface hardware is identified.
Please provide any assistance, we simply need to confirm the remote I/O racks are working as a unit before we ship these systems.
