How many maximum alarms supported by Alarm manager service?
Voted best answer
You can increase upto 50,000 alarms but don't increase more than that becuase it may affect the performance. I couldn't find anything from manual about maximum count.
The default value is 10, 000 and the System Engineer has permission to modify it.
This number is for the total number of alarms for all categories. Each category value
can be modified. The default value for each category is the total alarm storage
divided by the number of categories. For example, if there are ten categories and
alarm storage is 10,000, there are 1,000 condition for each category.
I sincerely recommend keeping the setting at 10.000 alarms.
What operator can overview more than 10.000 alarms?
For alarm history you better use event lists (and increasing Event Storage from default 10.000 events per category up to 50.000 is another story).
Two more things:
1) Keep "Make new alarm each time a condition gets active" at default DISABLED
2) Configure dedicated and much smaller alarm manager storage for ALL system alarm categories; eg 500 alarms for "System Condition Event" the AC800 HW-alarm category etc) so that process alarms share the global 10.000 storage and system alarms get eg 500 each per category.
