Couldn't call up the Faceplate in the Workplace on only ASCS2 Server operation.
I have redundant AS/CS servers. I can call up the faceplate well when ASCS1 is aliving.
If ASCS1 server went to power down status, the faceplate call-up was very slow from ASCS2. I can see the real value on the background display. but when I click the graphic element and call up the faceplate, it is very very slowly open the faceplate about more than 10 ~ 20 second. Have you experience this problem ? Please give me a answer. Thank you very much.
Well, there's several possible causes. You need to check the CPU and Memory performance of the Redundant Aspect/Connectivity Server when the Primary is down. You also need to ensure everything in your Plant Network is working correctly. ( Network performance and configuration problems are the biggest cause of slow workstation issues). You need to identify if the problem is experienced on all your clients, and you need to configure affinity and check if the problem exists even when the primary AS/CS is available.
Of course, if your Primary AS/CS has failed, then your secondary AS/CS must now serve ALL the clients so it has much more work to do.
If your system is small, then yes it is possible to combine the AS/CS into a single machine to save a little cash - however I would never recommend that someone does this. For the cost of a single server ( or better yet, a little extra memory for your Virtual VMware physical machine ) you are much better off having separate Aspect and Connectivity machines.
What version of 800xA?
Are you using Windows domain or workgroup?
When using domain and if ASCSx is also a domain controllers the problem could be that the DNS configuration and DNS settings on the network cards are incorrect, e.g. ASCS2 is not installed with DNS and when ASCS1 (with the only DNS server) is stopped, name resolution from ASCS2 will timeout and failover to slower alternatives (WINS, etc).
Please describe your configuration.
At some previous version(s) of 800xA we have had issues with performance degradation when the Central Licensing Server is shut down or unavailable. Please refer to
Product Bulletin 9ARD182293-030.
I Suggest you to do the following,
1) Increase the paging file sizes.
2) Defragg the machine if required.
3) Rebooted AS2 machines then selected each display after the reboot on the menu page once to get them cached into memory, so that the next time the page got selected it would call uip faster.
4) Checked on the Virtual memory and assigned to 1.5 times the Physical RAM memory.
