OPC tunnel not working, Windows7?
Hello,
i´m trying to connect a external OPC Server via ABB OPC Tunnel but it just doesn´t work. The PCs are Win7, I am Local Admin and I even deactivated UAC, Firewall and AntiVirus-Software.
I tried different OPC Servers (ABB Trendserver, Matrikon Simulation and Beckhoff), different ports, reinstalled everything etc. Both PCs are connected to the same switch and can ping each other. Network works perfectly.
The problem is that no matter what settings i use the configurator on the client side allways says: Unvalid ProgID for DA-Server. The advanced tool also doesn´t work.
I tried a demo of another tunnel software which works perfectly out of the box.
With the normal configuration tool i just have to enter the exact same data like on the server side or am i wrong? Is the tunnel working on Windows7? It seems to be quite old.
Thanks, br!

Hello Johanness,
As I understand You want to connect a 3rd party OPC server to Freelance.
First of all the Freelance OPC tunnel works perfectly fine on Windows 7. If the 3rd party OPC server is working fine, then there are two steps You need to do in order for tunnel to work - first install OPC tunnel on the computer, on which You have Your 3rd party OPC server running and configure it (easiest way is to give an exact name into configurator or just search Your network with advanced configurator). Second thing is to set up a client in Your project - You do not have to configure OPC tunnel on the client (Freelance system) side, as the tunnel functionalieties are built into CBF and DigiVis! You only add OPCServer node into Project Tree and configure the IP address of the OPC server station. For more info check attached document.
