Adding ABB IO modules to SIEMENS PLC
- SIEMENS PLC CPU 315-2DP
- ABB communication module CI830 SW*1.3/1
- one digital input module DI810
- one digital output module DO810
I have downloaded from internet 2 GSD files for CI830 module. One is version SW*1.3, and other is SW*1.4. I have imported both to Simatic manager HW library. After I define CPU in hardware with profibus address 2, I add S800/CI830 to the profibus with address 3 (this is also set on module itself). Finaly those two IO module are added to configuration. When I download this configuration to the PLC, on both IO modules Fault lamp is ON, while on CI830 power lamp is ON, and both Tx and Rx are steady yellow. I was trying to set different parameter data for each IO module, but without any result. Can you tell me maybe , if there is anything else that I can try, maybe different GSD file or there is something that I missed.
Thank you

Hello,
As per details appears CI830 get detected but di/do modules are not available. Check if I/O modules are locked ? power is supplied ? which terminal units(TU) you are using ? to check this follow details posted on this thread @

I don't know sematic manager but if there is any possibility to check or scan online slaves available on profibus network then make sure first CI830 get detected and configuration is loaded then only you can get attached modules up and running.
Hope that helps
Greetings
as I understand you that you want to use the ABB DI810 and the DO810 with Siemens S7 315 CPU
you do install the GSD file - correctly - in the simatic manger (you say so)
the Simatic manger shall locate the I/Os of the installed modules in it is memory location (is that happened?)
by using simple application program you can move one or zero to each of the memory location (did you try that?)
also you can use the variable allocation table to do the same test either for the inputs or for the outputs
Also are you sure the bus connection are ok .. no communication error
Note that .... Siemens plc with only see the ABB I/Os as memory location , and it will assigned automatically by the Simatic software
Good luck
