PM864 redundant configure IO without stopping the program
as I understand it is possible to upgrade the firmware in a redundant PM864 controller without going offline. This is done by upgrading one controller at a time.
With that in mind, is it possible to add IO to the controller and load the configuration to one controller at a time?
That way we do not need to stop the entire plant in order to add a new profibus IO station.
If possible, where can I find the procedure to do this.

The problem isn't the controller - its the profibus. You have to physically break the cable somewhere in order to add the new station. Unless you already have a connection ready to go, then the easiest place to break the cable is on an optical section and plug in a new patch. If you have an optical ring then you may even be able to break one section without halting the operation of the bus.
Otherwise, breaking the cable to add a new plug means the bus is going to stop. The controller won't care and the bus should - hopefully - start again afterwards. However, I personally would not trust the bus enough to rely absolutely on this and would recommend that all the plant sharing the bus is stopped as a precaution.
