800xA Time Synchronization with GPS Clock
One of customer site, they have 800xA 5.0 Sp2 system with AC800M Controller. I want to syncronize AC800M Controller time with GPS Clock. As per our user manual , this can be achived easily however The problem here is, GPS is clock is having different IP and subnets that is 10.140.16.96/255.255.255.192. But our controller has the IP of 172.16.96.100/255.255.252.0. How to communicate between both devices. If router is the solution for this wht is best router suitable for this requirement. Need advice from Networking experts..

First, there must be an ethernet route between the AC800 CPU and the GPS.
If the two does not share the same subnet (as mentioned) one or more router are also required.
If only one "jump" over one router is required, it should be possible by declaring it to be the default gateway. Both the GPS and the AC800 must be configured to have the router as default gateway.
Furthermore, the router must be enabled to let the UDP 123 (SNTP) protocol to pass over it.
Another possibility would be to "bring" the GPS time into the router/switch closest to the AC800 CPU. Most modern & managed switches today can act as both NTP server and client.
If the time would be brought to the switch next to the AC800 and the switch given a management IP address reachable from the controller's subnet (see System 800xA IP plan for suggested addresses) the AC800 can fetch time without having been given a default gateway.
