3rd Party System communication via OPC COM/DCOM
Hi Guys,
I need to integrate a 3rd party Sub control system with 800xA 5.1 System, i know we need to configure COM/DCOM settings to vreate the trust between the two systems.
I have a couple of questions in this regards!
1. where do we need to do the COM/DCOM settings inour 800xA systems ? i.e in Aspect server 1 only ? or in Aspect server 1 & 2 ? or in connectivity server 1 ? or Connectivity Server 1 & 2 ? or in all the nodes ??
2. When we are done with the COM/DCOM, i know that i need to create a "Generic OPC Server Network" object in Control structure then configure it with OPC Data source defination "Service Group" then select a "Service Provider" !!
Here which node should i select as a Service provider ?? same ?? should it be AS1 ? or AS2 ? or CS1 ? or CS2 ? please note that CS here refers to my AC800M connectivity server!
I have 2 Aspect & 2 AC800M connectivity servers in my 800xA system with domain configuration.
Looking forward to your valuable suggestions.
Thanks guys.

The OPC DA Connector service (advdsopcconnector.exe) need to be able to perform asynchronous DCOM with the 3rd party OPC server.
The connector runs as a service in the background under the 800xA service account. The 3rd party server must be configured to accept and be able to callback to the connector.
Where you put the connector service is up to you. AC 800M OPC server should in normal cases be able to share computer with another OPC server (the connector can run in multiple instances on the same computer)

OPC Connections should go on Connectivity Servers. Depending on your system size you might be able to combine servers. If you are only adding a few hundred OPC signals from a reliable and well prove OPC server, then probably you can combine the AC800 and OPC connectivity on the same servers.
If you are collecting a large amount of data or you are unsure if the third party OPC server you are using will be reliable and play nicely with all of the ABB components then you might want to make new connectivity servers.

If your third party OPC server is running on a 800xA system node, then you should not need to do any DCOM configuration. However, if you have problems connecting to your OPC server or your OPC server is on another node somewhere then you may need to modify DCOM settings on both the machine where the OPC server is installed AND on the connectivity server that contains the OPC DA Service Group for your OPC Server Networks

Already,Perfectly answered by the Seniors .
Though, you can select OPCTunnelling, using softwares of Matrikon, etc.
DCOM settings are skipped far much in that case.
