mfp03 invalid primary controller detected infi 90
Good morning to all,
I want to install a primary and backup mfp03 but I got an error when I try to online configuration (mfp03 invalid primary controller detected). I respected all settings as adresses and the redundancy link from P3 connector, firmware, select primary for the primary and online backup for backup in the properties of the mfps.
Did I forgot a step?

If the controllers appear to function as primary controllers but wont communicate with each other as a pair you could try diagnostic test 14/24 (Refer the IMMFP03 product manual). This will test the MFP03s and the NKMP03 as a system. The only thing is a test failure may not identify the faulty component unless you can substitute a known good spare MFP03 / NKMP03 into the test configuration.
You could also try performimg special operations 2 and 4 on each MFP as a minimum (or whatever your site standard is for module formatting), just in case the firmware has been replaced without reinitialising / formatting the controller memory. Refer to the IMMFP03 product manual for details.
What do you mean by "now I have error check link redundancy"? Do you get an error code as such?
1.) In reference to your original post about the Composer message..
What firmware versions are the MFPs? The earlier MFPs (pre revision F2) had the 16 bytes module status report but byte 10 (1 based) for automated OLC were not implemented until firmware revision F2. Revision F3 also had a problem with properly presenting the data to Composer casuing a similar symptom. From memory the automated OLC process is not supported on Superloop with SBM modules or Plantloop with BIMs either, just in case.
Spec3 of FC90 (Extended Executive) also affects the behaviour of OLC bits but not sure if it will cause your specific symptom. Refer to the FC application manual.
Can you do an offline download to the controllers? Does this work OK?
Do the pair of MFP03s appear to be working normally as a redundant pair? i.e. LEDs normal and fail over / backup OK. If so and the process allows, you could try a manual OLC process via Composer. i.e. Manually manipulating the N+1 controller mode as per Procedure B of the Composer Primary Interface manual. This would help confirm that the controller settings are correct at least. You can also look at the automated OLC bits during the OLC process to see where the problem exists. The relavent hardware manuals explain the when and why each of the bits are set.
2.)In reference to the later comment about the module LEDs.
The backup controller appears to unable to communicate with the primary correctly, not even getting to the cold failover state. If you reverse controller roles is the symptom similar?
Can you swap out indivdiual components such as the IEMMFP03 / NKMP03 (not NKMP01) / MMU etc.
Without worrying about whether you setup the controllers correctly, which I will assume: Are you using a manual method to make the online change? Ensure to use the Composer online tools only for the Online change. If you do this, then you download the change after an online "reset" which forces the controllers to a special state. You then use the tools to "download" the changes. I mention this as you state an 'invalid primary controller', which suggests an incorrect Online change routine is being used.
If you are using older tools (eg DOStools, WinTools) then a more precise manual method is used. Please let me know if you need, as I have it written down and can send if you like.
