800xA RNRP problem
we have an 800xA 5.1 FP4 system where the Aspect Server is also Domain Controller. In some cases (i.e. when the Primary NIC fails) the RNRP fails to update the hosts file. When we searched the windows event log we fiound the following error (see the attached file) : 'NSPF could not be started'. Does anyone knows what is the 'NSPF' and why fails ?
I've been told that RNRP does not work properly if the primary NIC is unavailable at startup. A failure taking place AFTER startup will lead to failover to secondary.
I assume NSPF stands for Network Storm Protection Filter.
As far as I know, RNRP on Windows only offer Loop Protection (based on detecting multicasted frames having a constant, not increasing sequence number). AC 800M have a Storm Protection function based on packet/second.
I assume our developers would be interested in finding out more from your problem - please have a support case logged with your regional ABB support center and we'll take it from there.
