using Modbus TCP in a redundant AC800F controller(Freelance 2016),communication btween AC800F and safety system
Dear Sumit,
I have two questions about Freelance 2016:
1- in a projects we want to use Freelance 2016 with Redundant AC800F Controllers each equipped with two EI813F cards.one EI813F in each controler is using to connect two redundant controllers and another one is using for Control Net for connection to workstations. at now we want to use Modbuc TCP link. How can we do it? because we can't use more than two EI813F in each controller to be used for Modbus TCP.
2- we want to use AC800-HI with Essential Automation modules too. How we can communicate with Freelance system? is it possible to connect two controllers(AC800F &AC800m-HI) directly via ethernet or we should use OPC?
Best Regards

Hello ghazalenevisi,
1. You can set up up to 10 Ethernet connections on E1 Ethernet Card of AC 800F. The one, obvious problem is that the card has a single IP address for all connections, so Your Modbus TCP would use the same subnet as ControlNet.
You CAN'T use the E2 module of redundant controller the same way - it MUST be a private network between the two redundant controllers only.
2. You can use Modbus (TCP for Ethernet connection or RTU for serial). I'm sure there are other ways, but this is the way I've seen it being done.
Hope this helps,
Mike
