Connect ethernet device with IO rack
We have PM864A process control along with IO racks.
Now we have few controller(Precicon R--Ador TR controller) with ethernet interface which are close to IO rack.
Now how do I connecet those controller with ABB IO rack through ethernet interface. My Controller racks are far away from the IO rack location. IO rack are already conncted with controller previously.
I think, unfortunately, that will not be a possible by means of direct communication.
AC800M IO racks usually use Modulebus, Profibus DP or AF100 connection to the CPU. Particular case could be Profibus, and then you can try to connect a third party controller as slave to this network - in some of the cases.
Could you please describe exactly which protocol supports your new controller trough ethernet interface. Also you should describe what kind of connection do you have from PM864 CPU to IO racks - Profibus DP, AF100, optical Modulebus?
The easiest way seems to build a separated hardware line from your PLC to PM864A, and even in this case, you should add some communication module to the CPU, depends of what protocol supports the new PLC trough Ethernet. The integrated in the CPU's ports are MMS (ABB's own ethernet protocol) and Serial RS232 ports.
