Preferred method to restore xA6.0.1 backup running in single node sys to production sys
Hi Stefan/mmm,
What's the preferred method to use to restore the 6.0.1 backup from single node sys to production sys.
Is it like creating the system in priAS and adding sys functions as like in single node sys and adding all the nodes and node functions and exclude all nodes while deployment(only priAS deploy) and export the system configuration aspects from admin str then delete the system and restore the backup via config wizard in priAS and import system configuration aspects then open SCC and include all nodes and deploy entire system?
OR
Directly restore the system backup in production plant priAS via config wizard and then add sysfunctions and add nodes with node functions and deploy entire system and change the priAS service groups/service providers as per default method(as per manual)? For future upgrade/updates.
Kindly advice.

First alternative.
Depending on state of the production system a few more options might exist.
A node feature can only be deployed *once*.
So if the production system's computers have already been deployed (Oracle, SQL Server, AC 800M OPC server, add client, etc, etc.) you must ensure that the SCC aspects are exported and recovered after restore of backup from the engineering system. Note: reboot after restore of backup, then use Plant Explorer to delete the old SCC aspects before importing.
Important note: do *NOT* attempt to launch SCC before you have restored the correct SCC aspects with the ImportExport tool!
Subsequent attempts to deploy a node function, e.g. AC 800M OPC Server a second time may/will fail if has already been installed there before.
On the other side, if the production system nodes are in a "virgin" state you can perform Add + Deploy of them after loading the backup.
The 6.0.3 documentation has been enhanced with respect to the above.
In 6.1 a new function "Move System" makes it even easier to perform a move of a backup between an engineering and a production system.

Sorry, this is so far an empty spot for me. Out of office and unable to check with senior colleagues.

Hi Stefan, Which is the preferred way either of 2 to follow since we are planning to restore a system in plant

I'll return to office on Monday and will try to see if I can get this checked out.
However, I've been away for almost two full weeks so there will be plenty of stuff to catch up with. Please attach new comment if you do not hear from me.
