ABB DCS 800XA Version 5.1 System Architecture with redundant each connectivity server & Aspect server ,1 nos. h
we have 4 nos server.
when we restart primary connectivity server.we found primary network not up & secondary network up.in all server primary network showing up except only primary connectivity.we have already reset port, disable enable port.now its showing only sent packets not received packets.server ping both primary & secondary network.but when we remove secondary network cable than not ping both primary & secondary network.
In your case, what I see is only one network can ping at a time. That is working fine with Redundant server that Second is taking over, after failing of Primary.
Case-1: When both PRI & SEC are inserted, and you remove SEC, then Primary will keep pinging i.e. Data Packets Send & Recieve.
Case-2: When you remove PRI in Case-1, SEC will keep pinging.
However, you can Externally Read PING in your RUN function, which will enforce to Send & Recieve if they are not happening.
Example: Open RUN in Start menu . Type your PRI or SEC Network ID ,like this:
ping 172.16.0.11 -t.
Also check you have Window Driver Installed for PORT-2 of your PC.
RNRP does not handle "Disable interface" in Microsoft Windows so well. Don't use this unless you need to reload the network driver, etc. RNRP Service might need to be restarted to recover from a disabled network interface.
Windows Firewall can sometimes be confused from network disconnections/reconnections and change profile from "Domain" to something else, e.g. "Undefined". Often, all packets are dropped by firewall then. I see this as a shortcoming of Microsoft Windows, but it will cause problem for RNRP or any other application needing the network.
"ping" is slave to the routing table. As long as RNRP service is running, it will adjust the routing table to allow a ping to continue on another NIC if first NIC is disconnected.
To see "true ping", stop the ABB RNRP Service first. Then a ping on the primary network will not jump over to the secondary in case primary is down (or blocked by firewall...)
