OPC TUNNEL COMMUNICATION WITH SCHNEIDER MODICON
We are checking these 2 possible answers to communicate a Freelance 9.2 sp1 7 a Schneider Modicon PLC.
- First we take the option of using a FI 820 Modbus module, change the modbus RTU to TCP/IP and connect it at the communication switch where the Schenider's modicon will be connected.
- The other option that we are reading about is using the OPC TUNNEL that Freelance has, Could you let me know your opinion about this solution?
Modbus TCP could be a solution if Modicon supports it. But why use a FI820 instead of doing Modbus TCP on the controller?
For the OPC communication I cannot say much, but I suspect there will be no direct access from the PLC to OPC. So this would probably become a solution with two OPC servers and an OPC "data pump" involved, which is a quite long path.
