What does tag mean in Scada software? (I mean the one that companies charge for it's license)
I wonder what exactly a "tag" mean in opc or scada terms. How would one can count the number of tags that are being used in a project, so one can determine the appropriate License to purchase?
There is a similar post regarding the 800xA software ( the url is provided ), but my concern is more around Zenon Copa-Data package.
Your response is kindly appreciated.
The tag in SCADA normally means the number of signals (either digital or analog) that are used for HMI indications. For example if you want to use a signal in HMI page, you have to create a tag and the same has to be used, so that will make your tag count as 'one'. In the same way if you created 'n' number of tags for HMI display then your tag count will be 'n'. Hope this is the answer for your question.
A driver connects field hardware like IED's, PLC, drives to zenon using native protocols or standard protocols used in automation, electrification or building management (like Profinet/ -bus, EthernetIP, IEC61850, IEC60870, DNP3, BACnet, KNX, LON ...)
