Need the procedure for communicating through OPC from 800xA to freelance and vice versa
Instead of OPC I recommend using direct I/O or a fieldbus of some kind; Modbus, Modbus TCP, etc.
The MTBF (mean time between failure) on an OPC link is several times smaller than if a fieldbus is used.
OPC may sound attractive but have several drawbacks when it comes to performance and reliability.
you have requested same via mail also, Sorry I don't have procedure step by step. But if you are trying cross connection between freelance(AC 7/8/900F) and 800xA(AC 800M) via OPC then we tried something once, what I remember find that below
Getting values in freelance : reference to AC 800m OPC, i.e add OPC node and give ip address of AC 800M opc server. once get connected fetch those values via OPC item list in to CBF to use further in program or for display in DigiVis.
Giving values to system 800xA : In freelance system insert OPC gateway, add same resource via configure tool for OPC server. and in system 800xa reference Freelance2000OPCServer.xx (xx is OPC gateway res id) this should fetch values from freelance in to 800xa system.
recommend to go through manual 3BDD012511, page 45, topic example of opc linking betwen two system. also remember from 9.1 OPC tunnel is supported hence you need OPC tunnel both side. if it is older version need to configure DCOM both side.
Also as stefan recommends, you can connect with between two controllers over standard protocols, fyi in new version 2013 all freelance controllers supports MODBUSTCP, too.
There is one more thing you should consider when thinking of such a solution. The variables transfered by OPC are not availble for the controllers, at least from the Freelance side. Both CBF and DigiVis have OPC client functionalities, but AC 800F doesn't, which means that You can use OPC variables only for visualization, NOT in program logic.
Depending on what is the exact purpose of this connection, You may not only be advised, but maybe even forced to use some sort of fieldbus.
