Control Buider application version - can not go online
I use cb6.0 on two different pcs.
If i perform an application change i one pc and then do a backup and restore to the other pc i get no check in the "applications name"-box in the Online Analysis.
When clicking Information, the Application Analysis Information says there is different application version in controller and cbm.
How can this bee?
I use the same backup in both pcs.
I have tried to copy application files directly between pcs - no effect.
I have removed and reinstalled cb on the pc that have the probem - no effect.
Greatful if anyone could provide help.
Working as expected.
Every time you go online the code is compiled. The compiled version in the PC is checked against the version in the PLC - but it simply isnt possible to check EVERYTHING - so the version check uses a checksum value.
The date/time of the last save AND the identity of the PC downloading to the PLC is part of the checksum that identifies the compiled application version in the controller.
Because you're using two separate Compact Control Builders, your stations will always create different checksums.
Thank you for answers... but let me clarify..
I have about 15 different controllers.
I use one stationary computer and one laptop.
Usually I work with the stationary computer via tcp/ip, but i also sometimes use the laptop on sight.
I take the backup of the project for a specified controller from the stationary and restore on the laptop.
In about 12 of the projects this works fine.
But in the rest I get the problem described in my original post.
I can agree with Rob and what you described. It happens to me too. Rob explained exactly what happen.
I personally do the following - if I download from the laptop, then take the direct copy of the project folder (explorer) and paste it content in stationary PC. Before that, I care that all the custom libraries are stored in the project folder! Also all different reports should be located there everything.
Anyhow, sometimes it is not possible to go online. That is all the time surprising me - "The project is downloaded from different engineering station". Other story is when the application is stored in Compact flash and then loaded in CPU from it. In this case sometimes it appear "Fatal error ..." and even it is not possible to download from both PC's.
That is long story, from versions after 3.16 - may be some "improvements" are made after that.
I also get a problem in cb6.0.
I start with a total restore of a backup and send it to an empty AC800M in my office.
If I then make changes to the program that I don’t want to keep, I normally have made a new total restore of the old backup. When I now try to go online I get Fatal error. Missing files from last download. If I use a “typical restore” instead of complete restore it seems to be OK and I can go online.
If I use the user controlled restore I have to unchecked the Controller_1.CTD domain file. Then I can restore and will not get the Fatal error when going online.
What information is in the Controller_1.CTD domain file?
