Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L35E PLC Data interface with 800xA 6.0 system with AC800M
Hi,
In one of our plant we are going to interface Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L35E PLC into our 800xA 6.0 system running with AC800M controllers.
GSD file for PLC is not available but PLC is supports for TCP/IP communication. Please suggest us the other best possible way to interface into our system.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I would suggest to use Ethernet/IP to communicate between AC800M and AB compactlogix. Use corresponding EDS files from AB.
depends how you're planning on "interfacing it". The compactlogix line will support virtually and protocol you want it to, modbus RTU, modbus TCP, profibus etc. You could add a prosoft profibus module and set it up as a node on a CI854 drop if you're plant utilizes that topology. Similiarly if wanting to use modbus you could simply use PLC Connect and add it to a topic in RSLinxEnterpise on you're PLC network, altho this makes it harder to use the values in 800xA logic as too many property transfers has been known to cause issues. If its mostly read only i would use PLC connect as this will allow the PLC objets to have all the same aspects as a native DCS IO. If using for logic i would go with a profibus or modbus link direct to the controller. Depending on your experience level the PLC connect option is simpler.
